Job Description
The Energy Unit, specifically the Transmission & Distribution division are recruiting a Principal Power System Studies Engineer to be part of an integral team delivering large projects across the world. We aim to provide our employees the opportunities to work on some of the most exciting projects and will support this with the required training and mentoring by experts residing in our UK and global offices.

You will be involved in projects which will include the following roles:
Team Leader, providing professional leadership, mentoring and development, allocation of projects, recruitment, and other regular team leader activities in line with our values
Power System Analysis – load flow, short circuit, dynamic & transient stability, harmonic analysis, protection, arc flash evaluation
Power System modelling - modelling using industry standard software such DigSilent Power Factory, PSS/E, IPSA, ETAP, PTW and PSCAD
Visiting client and project sites to collect data, sometimes via measurements
Analysing and interpreting simulation and test data using industry standard methods
Report preparation and presentation to clients
Having an appreciation of the roles of fellow professionals on other projects and interfacing and coordinating with them appropriately
Interfacing with clients and other project stakeholders
Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of technical engineering codes and practices and taking a hands on role in technical matters

Candidate Specification
Electrical engineering degree (minimum BSc/BEng; MSc/MEng or PhD in power systems will be an advantage).
Proficiency in DigSilent Power Factory, PSS/E, IPSA, ETAP, PTW and other power simulation software
Team player and willingness to follow instructions
Commercial awareness and ability to develop business through existing and new workstreams
High level of IT literacy and numeracy skills
Ability to be adaptable and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to manage small project teams delivering projects within time and budget
Ability to produce clear and logical written communication
Have a systematic logical approach to problem solving
Pay strong attention to detail and demonstrate accurate work
Flexible approach to work, and ability to prioritise and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and client needs
Highly motivated to learn on the job, interface with clients, as well as undertake training
Willingness to travel internationally from time to time

Desirable
Proficiency in PSCAD, EMTP/ATP or other EMT software
Proficiency in Python scripting language

Job Description
Our Energy unit are currently recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer to join us. You’ll provide technical and professional expertise as part of an enthusiastic project Electrical Engineering team. As part of this role, you`d be expected to:
Undertake and manage the day to day operations in respect of the following key areas
Electrical Engineering with experience in the Gas/Petrochemical Industry
Producing Engineering reports, drawings and calculations
Embrace Mott MacDonald’s working culture
Support project planning
Liaising with clients, understanding and implementing project requirements
Attend project design meetings and site visits
Coordinate the delivery of the project tasks and deliverables within tight deadlines and multidisciplinary environment.

Candidate Specification
The ideal candidate would have the following skills and qualifications:
An Electrical Engineering honours degree
Chartered Membership of a professional institution.
Knowledge and understanding of and international design codes, standards and specifications, in particular BS 7671
Demonstrable experience in the Gas/Petrochemical Industry with knowledge of Hazardous Area Protection Concepts and Industrial design and protection of LV Systems. Some HV design experience would be beneficial but not essential.
Fluent written and verbal English.
Competent with MS Office suite programs.
Ability to use Amtech electrical design software (desirable not essential)
Ability to work on own initiative on technical matters and manage their own time and that of others
Have the willingness to learn and develop



Electrical Engineer - Secondary design

Job Description
Your role will include working with a range of clients/stakeholders including major utilities and large global demand customers in a rapidly changing energy sector.

The role is a permanent position within our team for an ambitious and enthusiastic Electrical
Engineer. Reporting to the Power team Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for a range of tasks including;
Primary plant layout for HV substations;
Cable collection system design for renewable energy developments;
Equipment specifications for HV Plant and ancillary equipment;
Providing engineering design input to major electrical power infrastructural development projects through various lifecycle stages from feasibility/front end engineering stages to detailed design/site construction monitoring and commissioning;
Coordination with client project teams and internal team disciplines within Mott MacDonald including civil, structural, environmental, survey/geotechnical, transport, protection and control and CAD/BIM team;
Delivering projects in new technologies e.g. energy storage, HVDC systems, smart grid solutions, waste to energy etc;
Provide professional services to clients in the UK and overseas .
