Senior Power Systems Engineer

Candidate Specification
Electrical engineering degree (minimum BSc/BEng; MSc/MEng or PhD in power systems will be an advantage).
Proficiency in IPSA, ETAP, DigSilent, PTW and other power simulation software
Team player and willingness to follow instructions
Commercial awareness and ability to develop business through existing and new workstreams
High level of IT literacy and numeracy skills
Ability to be adaptable and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to manage small project teams delivering projects within time and budget
Ability to produce clear and logical written communication
Have a systematic logical approach to problem solving
Pay strong attention to detail and demonstrate accurate work
Flexible approach to work, and ability to prioritise and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and client needs
Highly motivated to learn on the job, interface with clients, as well as undertake training
Willingness to travel internationally from time to time

You will be involved in projects which will include the following roles:
Power System Analysis – load flow, short circuit, dynamic & transient stability, harmonic analysis, protection, arc flash evaluation
Power System modelling - conversant with IPSA, ETAP, DigSilent and PTW; PSS/E v3x & higher and PSCAD knowledge will be useful but not critical
Visiting projects sites and power plants to collect data, sometimes via measurements
Analysing and interpreting simulation and test data using industry standard tools
Report preparation and presentation to clients
Having an appreciation of the roles of fellow professionals on other projects and interfacing and coordinating with them appropriately
Interfacing with clients, suppliers and contractors
Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of technical engineering codes and practices and taking a hands on role in technical matters both at project level

Electrical Substation Engineer

Candidate Specification
Candidates will have an interest in the rapidly changing energy sector
Experience in transmission and distribution engineering.
Keen interest in Information Management / Digital Engineering, and ideally experienced in the use of relevant software packages.
Candidates will be proficient in English, both spoken and written, and will be proficient in technical report writing.
French or Spanish language capability would be advantageous.
Preferably qualified masters level in electrical engineering and have attained or be working towards chartership.
Develop internal and external (client) relationships, and ideally actively engaged with industry groups such as CIGRE, IET and other relevant professional bodies.

You will work on a variety of projects at all stages of delivery, including:
Front end engineering design (Feasibility, concept and Optioneering design)
Detailed Design for construction
Preparation of specifications
Owners engineer services / Design Assurance
Technical Due Diligence / advisory services

HV Cables Engineer

Candidate Specification
Degree in Electrical Engineering and member of IET or equivalent
Experienced cable system engineer, ideally with HVAC and HVDC systems
Analytical and able to solve complex engineering problems
A willingness to engage with new challenges as well as an ability to work confidently on tasks for which they have prior experience.
Ability to demonstrate good written communication skills including report writing.
Excellent communication and people skills.
You will be in a client facing role and will be expected to liaise with clients and contractors both on-site and over the phone.
Although the team is Brighton based, we regularly bid for projects all around the UK and Overseas. A prospective candidate should be prepared to undertake short-term site visits to meet with clients and contractors.

You’ll be working on HV cable system projects, fulfilling tasks including:
All aspects of cable system design
Project Management
Proposal Writing
Scheme Costings
Front End Engineering Design (FEED)
Overseeing the preparation of drawings e.g. planning applications and tender packages
Preparation of Specifications
Owners engineer / design assurance
Technical due diligence / advisory services
Onshore and offshore work
