SEPOPE

16th edition of the Symposium of Experts in Planning the Operation and Expansion of Electrical Systems - SEPOPE
May 17-20, 2026 in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil

SEPOPE`s preferred themes are aligned with relevant aspects of the international landscape of electrical systems, including topics selected from the six CIGRE Study Committees on Electrical Systems (C1-C6) and the Study Committee on Technologies B4.

Topics of interest include aspects related to methodologies for generation, transmission, and distribution (G, T, and D) expansion planning; increasing the resilience of electrical systems; means of preventing blackouts and/or reducing their impacts; advances in the use of synchronized phasor measurement; the impact of the new generation mix and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and special loads on the electrical grid; new regulatory and energy market aspects; systemic phenomena due to the existence of power electronics and harmonic loads. Furthermore, topics of interest are also taking into account sustainable development, climate change, extreme events, and cybersecurity.

The variety of topics to be discussed at SEPOPE will provide a valuable opportunity for extension and exchange of learning among professionals from G, T&D agencies, regulatory boards, planning bodies, system operators, manufacturers, universities, consultants and research centers.
