The IEEE International Conference on Energy Technologies for Future Grids (ETFG 2025)

As power and energy technology sectors continue to evolve, the global transformation in these sectors must accelerate further to achieve sustainability and mitigate climate change. The transition to a sustainable future is becoming more evident through declining renewable energy costs, greatly improved energy efficiencies, increasing use of “smart” technologies, and wider applications of energy storage. However, as this transition progresses, there is increasing pressure to integrate new energy technologies and systems into existing infrastructure. Further efforts are required in the power, energy, and transport sectors to accelerate the transition and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

For example, in the power sector, new technologies are needed to address power grid stability and enhance the capabilities of power systems to ensure a stable and cost-effective electricity supply. In the transport sector, technologies such as electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and hydrogen-fuelled vehicles, along with new ways of supporting these technologies from electricity distribution grids, will be game changers—spurring investment and driving the nation towards a cleaner transport future through increased utilisation of sustainable energy resources and emission-free energy generation technologies.

The IEEE International Conference on Energy Technologies for Future Grids (ETFG 2025) is the second biennial conference to be organized by the Australian Research Council (ARC) Industrial Transformation Training Centre in Energy Technologies for Future Grids (ARC Future Grids Training Centre) in collaboration with six Australian Universities and sixteen Industry partners. The ARC Future Grids Training Centre is sponsored by the Federal Government through ARC Industrial Transformation Research Program (ITRP) and co-funded by the NSW State Government, Universities, and Industry partners from across Australia.
