Principal/Senior Substation HV Plant Engineer Key Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Candidates must have: Proven technical capability associated with the design, configuration and layout of power system HV Plant. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in substation HV plant application at transmission voltage levels up to 500 kV, gained within a transmission utility, consultancy or manufacturing environment. An understanding of technical policy, its suite of technical specifications and supporting documentation. The capability to act as an authorised Substation HV Design Assurance Engineer would be an advantage. Broad knowledge of transmission technologies and a good understanding of how these technologies influence the operation and performance of the transmission system. The ability to work with internal and external parties (eg equipment suppliers, manufacturers, service providers, professional bodies) and within a strong team-working culture. The skill to communicate complex technical and commercial issues to peers or senior managers. The ability to work in and lead cross-functional teams. Proven experience of large-scale electrical systems installations across HV/MV and LV levels and associated sub-systems. Management experience. Experience within a consultancy or a contracting organisation is desirable. Good report-writing skills. Ability to work under their own initiative and as part of a team. Fluency in English. The role: Working closely with a team of electrical engineers to supervise and monitor all electrical plant and equipment works for a large thermal power plant. A team of field engineers and inspectors will be assigned to work under the senior engineers, with duties allocated on a daily basis. The main EPC Contractor will be responsible for undertaking the work, but the candidates will be expected to ensure it is carried out in line with the technical requirements and that good records are kept to demonstrate the same.
