FEB 11-12, 2025 - Amsterdam, Netherlands Offshore Wind Transmission Europe Offshore wind is crucial to meeting Europe`s clean energy goals, but its full potential can only be realised with a robust, efficient, and well-coordinated transmission grid. Without sufficient grid capacity, new offshore wind projects could face delays, driving up costs for developers and consumers and putting Europe`s renewable energy targets at risk. Transmission grids not only connect offshore wind farms to national power systems but also facilitate cross-border electricity trade, balancing supply and demand by efficiently distributing clean electricity across regions and countries. Aligning grid investments with Europe`s energy security and climate objectives is essential to prevent grids from becoming the bottleneck in achieving the continent`s renewable energy ambitions. Positive steps are already underway. Through the EU Grid Action Plan, the European Commission is advancing its commitment to ensuring that necessary onshore and offshore grid infrastructure is available. ENTSO-E`s and national TSOs’ plans reveal an increasing focus on grid expansion, alongside refurbishments and upgrades, over the coming decade. Recognising the importance of offshore grid development for the energy transition, Global Transmission Report is hosting the 6th Annual Offshore Wind Transmission Europe Conference on February 11-12, 2025, in Amsterdam. The event will focus on the strategies and solutions required to build a transmission grid capable of supporting Europe`s rapidly growing offshore wind capacity. This conference will bring together policymakers, regulators, developers, and technology providers to discuss operational challenges, best practices, and innovations in grid expansion and modernization. It will serve as a platform for key stakeholders to collaborate on overcoming grid challenges and accelerating the development of infrastructure essential for a greener, more resilient energy future. ![]() |
